Assisted living is intended to offer help with fundamental daily activities such as dressing, bathing, and eating. Independent living aids, on the other hand, are designed to establish a safe and secure setting where individuals can live autonomously while receiving customised care.

Here are some examples of the assistance we offer with daily living activities:

- Support with daily preparation, including self-care tasks like showering and dressing
- Aid in facilitating community engagement, which could include driving to various places or accompanying on public transportation
- Assistance with household chores and maintenance, such as cleaning or laundry
- Help with basic yard work like lawn mowing or gardening
- Providing someone who can assist with food preparation and eating
- Assistance with health and fitness routines and general self-care
- Support with managing appointments

It's important to note that there can be some overlap depending on the specific support and care needs of the individual. If you need further clarification to understand which service would be best, contact Community Carers today! We can assist you in making a well-informed decision that best suits you or your loved one's needs.

Can you use NDIS Funding for Assisted Daily Care (ADls)?
FAQ open icon

There are three main budget categories: Core, Capital and Capacity Building supports.

Assistance with daily life falls under the core and capacity supports category as it covers everyday personal activities. The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) funds home care support if it is “reasonable and necessary” for those living with disabilities.

Each NDIS plan is unique to the participant and provides funding based on their needs and goals.

A complete ADL assessment can be done to help determine if an individual’s functional performance in the areas of personal, self-care, domestic and general home maintenance activities in and around the home needs assistance and support
